LLB has a DSIR recognized state-of-the-art modern Biotech R&D facility under MTRL and a GLP approved Preclinical facility at Padi, Chennai, Tamilnadu. With a four-storey building, the facility is spread over 18000 sq. ft. areas with well laid out and demarked structures and functions. It has 24 hours power backup with UPS and DG set supports, besides full-fledged Engineering and Utility services and support systems.
The biotech facility has been built-up in two floors spreading over 7500 sq. ft. The Division has employed Post-Doctoral, Doctoral and Post Graduate Scientists having varying levels of relevant and accomplished experience from various fields and domains including veterinary sciences. It consists of six different labs such as Molecular Biology Lab, Fermentation (Upstream Process) Lab, Cell Culture Lab, Purification (Downstream Process) Lab, Formulation Lab, and Bio-Analytical Laboratories.
The Laboratories are all well equipped, the key ones being such Molecular Biology Instruments as Modern Electrophoretic Systems, UV Transilluminator, PCR Machine, Electroporator, Gel Dryer and Gel Doc System; Upstream Process Equipment like Automated Fermentors, CO2 Incubator, Digital Incubators, Microscope, Inverted Microscope, Incubator Shakers, Pilot Shakers, Ultrasonicators, High Speed Centrifuges, Refrigerated Centrifuges, TFF Systems; and Downstream Process Instruments including AKTA Purifier, AKTA Pilot, Concentrators, Chilled Water Circulator, Vacuum Pumps, Double Distillation Unit, Air Compressor, etc.
The Bio-Analytical Labs are equipped with Milli-Q Water System, Various Electrophoretic Systems, Multiplate Reader, RT-PCR Machine, Flow Cytometer, LC-MS, Advanced HPLC Systems, Spectrophotometer, BOD Incubator, Humidity Chamber, Biosafety Cabinets among various others to meet almost all physico-chemical, biochemical, biological and immunological characterization and analyses of proteins and other biological molecules.
Apart, the facility has all such general but advanced equipment and instruments as Autoclaves, Hot Air Ovens, Laminar Air Flow Units, LN2 Storage Systems, -800, -400, -200 C Deep Freezers, Refrigerators, Bacteriological Incubators, Digital Multi-Range Weighing Balances, Analytical Balances, Digital Water Baths among many more.
The state-of-the-art preclinical research facility spreads over 8000 sq. ft. designed and built in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). The facility is registered with CPCSEA (Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals) vide approval No. 1182/PO/Rc/S/08/CPCSEA.
The facility spreads over two floors. One floor has exclusively been designed and built up for accommodating various animal species which include rats, mice, guinea pigs and rabbits in temperature, humidity and light controlled double-corridor Class 100000 environment with Air Shower, Pass Boxes and 100% exhaust provisions and another floor has access controlled supporting laboratories and control rooms such as an independent QA Cell, Test Item Control Unit, Archival Wing, Toxicology and Genetic Toxicology Labs, Clinical and Histo-Pathology Labs, Bio-analytical Labs, Bioassay Lab, Immunology Lab, Microbiology Lab and others.
The facility houses best of the equipment and instruments from reputed brands and vendors for exceptional quality conduct of the studies.
